gingerbread man

Mrs. Williams’ and Mrs. Schonauer’s classes recently experienced an exciting surprise when a very special visitor stopped by—the Gingerbread Man! His visit was brief, as he quickly dashed away, but not before sparking curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm throughout the classroom.

Since his sudden departure, students have been receiving letters and postcards from around the world reporting new sightings of the speedy cookie. Each update has added to the excitement as students eagerly follow his journey and anticipate his possible return before Christmas break.

As part of this engaging learning experience, students worked collaboratively in creative groups to problem-solve and think critically. They designed clever gadgets to help the Gingerbread Man safely cross the river without falling into the fox’s trap and created detailed setting maps to plan his quick escape. Students are also tracking his “world tour” on a map, strengthening their geography and literacy skills along the way.

To top off the experience, students enjoyed a festive treat by decorating—and tasting—their own gingerbread cookies. This hands-on, cross-curricular activity brought learning to life and created lasting memories for our young learners.

What a sweet way to combine creativity, collaboration, and fun in the classroom!
