Reminder to all of the children in the United Local School District and Columbiana County communities ages 3-18 years old. You are invited to come see Team Sunshine & The Sunshine Bus at United Local Schools on Wednesday, July 26th from 10am-1pm. Akron Children's Hospital will also be joining them tomorrow, with FREE summer fun toys for the kids as well as gun locks & medication lock boxes for the adults.

Construction Update: Hammond Construction has been making a lot of progress this week, including preparing the base foundation for the new kitchen/ cafeteria and competition gym. The second photo is the new bus entryway off Route 9. The third photo is the new student parking lot and additional athletic parking during construction. Thanks to Hammond and all the local subcontractors for all their hard work.



Ohio’s three-day sales tax holiday — created to help parents and teachers save
money on back-to-school purchases — will take place Aug. 4-6. Sales tax will be
suspended on clothing, school supplies and instructional materials within certain price ranges. The tax suspension also will apply to online purchases.

United Local Schools will hold new student registration for the 2023-2024 school year on Tuesday, July 25th and Wednesday, July 26th in our elementary office. Please enter the building using door #8. To make an appointment to register for one of these dates please call Ann Peters, EMIS Coordinator (All Grades), at 330-223-2831. Children who will be Five Years old on or before August 1st are eligible to attend kindergarten. Please complete all of the necessary online documentation forms prior to your appointment time.

The 6th graders went to check in on their bee hives today. The bees were calm and busy at work! We had many of our kiddos face their fears and it was such a successful day of learning!

Last week the 8th grade took a PBIS field trip to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. We had the pleasure of touring the museum and participating in different activities! It was a great experience for our students!

United students are shown explaining the new hydroponic growing project. The towers were purchased to grow lettuce and other vegetables for the cafeteria and Life Skills classes with a grant from the Columbiana County Health Department. As students learn, they are then able to teach and connect with other students and our community. We're all looking forward to the harvest!

Each student was given a packet of information at school today inviting all of you to the upcoming groundbreaking ceremony as well as the logistics plan for next school year as we begin the construction process. If your child did not share this packet with you please ask them to share it with you.

Public Town Hall Meeting!
Our NOPEC representative, John Zehentbauer will meet with the community at 6pm, Monday, May 8th in the United School auditorium to clarify and answer questions regarding the letters we all recently received and decisions we must make. All are welcome.
United Local seventh graders will have a field trip on Monday, May 22, 2023, to the Sky Zone Trampoline Park and the Fannie May Chocolate Factory (formerly Harry London’s) in Canton, OH. The cost of this trip is $20.00. Your 7th-grade students are bringing home information and permission slips today. Money, waiver, and permission forms are due by Wednesday, May 17th to Mr. Brunner.
Mr. Thompson’s 7th grade science classes spent the day learning about soil conservation with Mr. Pete Conkle from Columbiana County Soil & Water Conservation District. Thank you Mr. Conkle for being such a wonderful resource for our students!



Mrs. Audrey Dimmerling from the Ohio State University Extension Office (Columbiana County) presented to our Middle School students about local landfills, what goes in them, how long it stays, and how students can lower the amount of trash that ends up there. Thank you Mrs. Dimmerling for a fun and educational presentation!



Thank you to Mrs. Cooper's chemistry students for teaching Mrs. Conser's 7th grade students how to test their water. Students learned about reasons pollutants may be present and measures that can be taken to increase water quality.




Happy Birthday to our newly hatched mascot of this years 6th grade class who happens to share a birthday with one of our students, Weston Hoopes. We also cannot forget about our class pet bunny. 🐰
Also, a huge thanks to our amazing student Juliana Logan for bringing in the fertilized eggs and incubator, so that we could all have this wonderful experience. 🐣
