On Friday, December 13, students in grades 6th through 8th delivered Holiday Baskets to area senior citizens . Items for the baskets were donated by United Middle School students and included things like puzzles, fuzzy socks, blankets, candles, books, and personal care items. Students also shared a Christmas song or story with the seniors.

6th grade Social Studies students learned that it is much easier to survive (to get food, water, and shelter) if you work together in groups.

Good morning, United Local School District will be on a two-hour delay today, Thursday, December 5th. All buses will run their regular routes two hours later than normal. There will be no morning pre-school.

Today is National Special Education Day. We are UNITED in our appreciation for our staff members who are helping these students everyday. “Students with special needs require more than just an education from their teachers. They need support, warmth, and acceptance to reach their full potential.” Quote by: Ingrid Garcia, School Director of Divine Academy

I wanted to reach out and share the details for an upcoming service project the middle school students will be taking part in. Middle school students will be meeting by family and building holiday baskets to deliver to senior citizens in our community prior to the holiday break. Your student may be asking you to purchase small items to be placed in the baskets. If this creates a hardship for your family please reach out and let us know. The baskets are not meant to be a burden on you, they are meant to teach our kids about giving back and hopefully bring some joy to these senior citizens this time of year. Your student has met with their family and knows of the items we will be providing for the baskets. Students should be bringing home a permission slip to travel to several locations on December 13th to deliver the baskets and share some Christmas joy with senior citizens.
Thank you for your support and Happy Thanksgiving.

Reminder to our Parents and Students: United Local School District will not have school from Wednesday, November 27th through Monday, December 2nd, due to Thanksgiving Break. Students will resume on Tuesday, December 3rd. Staff members will resume on December 2nd for a staff in-service day.

Please welcome me in congratulating the sixth grade Eagle pride winners for the first nine weeks: Ben DuVall, Colton Wright, Eli Grimm, and Colton Zines (not pictured).
We also celebrate sixth graders who won a book vending machine token based on improvement in various ways: Liam Baker, Abbey Baker, Alex Baird, Elijah DiLeo, Kylie Clutter, Paisley Smith, Emma Gingrich, and Jace Craft.
Finally, we thank our sixth grade book vending machine caretakers, Ryker Shoff, Elaina Yoho, Samantha Hilton, Brody Hiscox (not pictured), and Eliza Thompson (not pictured). They refill and take care of inventory for all of our books. And a huge thanks to our former sixth grade caretakers, now seventh graders, for training these students. It can be a big job!
We appreciate you all so much! This sixth grade class is amazing! We really have great kiddos at United!
