Students in Mr. Gentry's 8th grade intro to agriculture class wrapped up their Food Science unit with the "everything food science" lab. Students got to taste test varieties of the same type of food to determine differences in name brand vs. generic, develop new packaging and branding for eggs, test the effectiveness of their packaging, and determine aromas of food flavors.










Congratulations to Brycen Haynes! He is now certified as a Microsoft Office Word Expert Specialist! This is Brycen’s FOURTH certification, which means he has earned a total of 12 Industry Recognized Credential points and a Graduation Seal in Business, Marketing, and Finance. Way to go, Brycen!!!

IMPORTANT YEARBOOK REMINDER FOR SENIORS AND SENIOR PARENTS: Today (3/28) was the deadline for senior pictures, baby pictures, and I will's/remember when's. 8th graders in Mr. Gentry's intro to Agriculture class have been learning about Food Science. They recently learned how food is marketed and why it's packaged the way it is. Students were tasked with rebranding or repackaging a common food. Check out some of the prototypes students built! Single served pop tarts, larger handle for syrupy, easier to hold root beer bottle with new label, resealable potato chip bag with built in napkin, rebranded Mountain Dew, and single serve rebranded "Stoffer" Mac n' cheese to showcase a few!

The United Softball team started off the season with an 18-0 win over Lisbon yesterday (3/27). Tori Firth pitched a no hitter and four Eagles hit homeruns. Way to go, Ladies!

The Varsity softball game originally scheduled for tomorrow (3/29) has been moved to TONIGHT (3/28) at Lisbon at 5:00.

7 United FFA members traveled to Columbus for the State Livestock judging contest this morning. They learned a lot and then enjoyed some Roosters for lunch 🐔




Come out to Salem High School to hear 17 United Band members perform with the Columbiana County Honors Band! Concert starts at 2pm on Saturday March 25 in Salem High School auditorium. Tickets available at the door.

Wednesday night we celebrated the induction of 20 new members to United High School's chapter of National Honor Society in the auditorium. Our new members are: Ben Battaglini, Alexander Baur, Addyson Blazer, Luke Courtney, Nate Hall, Ethan Hively, Grayson Kidder, Morgan Lake, Justus Lewand, Samara Martin, Emma McDevitt, Andrew Ogilvie, Katelyn Phillips, Rachael Rhodes, Piper Richey, Louden Stryffeler, Jacob Tucker, Hailey Wargo, Madeline Young, and Matilyn Zines. Congratulations to all!

Seniors in Agriculture business are learning about budgeting Money, how to develop a budget and the reality of how much things cost including taxes, retirement contributions and household bills. They are learning how to use the excel by building equations, and then mapping out their decisions in a presentation. They are doing a simulation where they are given a certain amount of "money" and have to budget it for a whole year. Here is their progress so far!





Connor Perry, Jennie Brinker, Chloe Cooper, Maggie cope and Allie Irwin all competed at the Ashland county general Livestock Invitational this morning. Members judged classes of Cattle, Pigs & Sheep for market and breeding characteristics. we then enjoyed company and a meal with West Branch FFA Members.



The United Band Spaghetti Dinner Concert is tomorrow! Dinner is from 4:30-7:30pm. Music goes from 5:30-8:30pm. ($10 Adult, $7 Student/ Senior Citizen, $2 Band Member) All audience members need a ticket for this event.

Painting began today on the sheds made by the senior Building Trades students. They will get shingles next, and then students will create a sale plan for their sheds. Sheds will be sold at the end of April - please help spread the word!

Woods 1 students completed another project this week. Students had to practice using the jig saw and the drill press to create a step stool. They are improving their blueprint interpretation skills and continue to fine tune their measuring abilities.
